Three Day AWLS Course
Earn the most important certificate in Wilderness Medicine from the University of Utah School of Medicine
Dates: Friday July 3 to Sunday July 5th
Location: Lykke Hotel Chamonix Center. This is where the class will be taught.
Who: All medical professionals including DO/ MD, PA, DDS/DMD, APRN, RN/BSN, EMT, and DPM.
Housing: Housing will be on your own.
Fees: The cost of the AWLS course is $550 USD. . We will need a $100 deposit by May 1, 2026, and a full deposit by June 1st, 2026. Cost includes only instruction costs. NO REFUNDS AFTER JUNE 1ST, 2026.
Hiking: There will be plenty of time to do multiple hikes in the mountains of the Alps.
Teaching: This course is taught in the middle of a two-course for medical students and residents. If you want, you can interact with and help teach these students. This is optional. This will be outlined when the course starts.
Chamonix-Mt. Blanc: Nestled in a lush valley in the French Alps, the idyllic mountain resort of Chamonix provides an unmatched base for outdoor adventure. The Mont Blanc massif rises impressively over the charming village inspiring the avid mountaineers and casual hikers alike. The downtown is also a fine place to stroll for shopping or dining as there are many fine restaurants just a short walk away. Discovered in 1741, this mountain village has become a destination for alpine recreation. The course is being hosted at the Lykke Chamonix Centre Hotel ideally located in the center of the town.
CME CME hours are available only by studying our online enduring materials. If you need CME, the University of Utah School of Medicine designates the AWLS enduring material for a maximum of 16.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s) TM. Students should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. So you will study the e material prior to coming to the course and then solidly the principles and learn the practical skills on site. You fee covers the cost of CME.
AWLS
Study wilderness medicine in Chamonix-Mt. Blanc and earn the AWLS certificate from the Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine at the University of Utah. Renowned as the most important certificate in wilderness medicine, you can earn this in the incredibly beautiful mountains in France, Italy, and Switzerland. Not only can you earn this certificate, but you will also study backpacking/trekking medicine as well.
